The first urban rental housing projects that Prague Development Company (PDS) is preparing for the capital city have started the construction procedure. Before the end of June this year, PDS has submitted complete documentation and applications for building permits or zoning permits for approximately 450 housing units in the projects Jalový Dvůr (Prague 4), Nový Zlíchov (Prague 5), V Botanice (Prague 5), Peroutkova (Prague 5), Palmovka - Zenklova (Prague 8), Dolní Počernice Project 1 and also for the kindergarten project in the Kyje - Hutě locality. PDS expects that building permits will be issued within approximately nine months, tentatively in spring 2025. The total cost of the implementation of these housing units is estimated by PDS at CZK 2 billion.

"Solving the housing problem is one of our priorities. It is a long-term problem, but the sooner it is addressed, the better. And rental housing is obviously one of the ways to solve it, which is why it has the support of the capital city," says the mayor of the capital city. Bohuslav Svoboda, the Mayor of Prague, is also supporting the project.

"We expect to issue building permits for smaller projects within about nine months, although it is difficult to predict the exact time. According to the optimal scenario, the first building permits could be issued in the first half of 2025. Subsequently, tenders for the general contractor must be issued by the Prague City Hall and construction of the housing projects can begin. The construction itself will take about 1.5 to 2 years," adds Petr Urbánek, Director of the Prague Development Company.
